New Patient Information at ANEWU in Atlanta, Georgia

Becoming a patient here should feel simple. This page is the starting point: what happens at the first visit, how the paperwork works, what the payment routes are, and where to find aftercare once treatment is done.

Where to start

How do I become a new patient?

Short answer

Call (470) 288-9655 or book online, and your first appointment is a free consultation at whichever ANEWU office suits you. No referral is needed. Paperwork is completed with the front desk team when you arrive, and a 3D scan is taken before any treatment plan is discussed.

If you have ever wondered whether there is a form to download or a fee to settle before you are seen, there is not. The consultation costs nothing, and most of it is spent listening. Here is what to expect at your first visit, walked through in order.

What follows depends on what the scan shows. Some patients come in about a single tooth, others about a whole jaw, and the implant options are explained face to face rather than quoted off a price list.

All three Georgia offices are open Monday to Saturday, 7am to 5pm, and they share one phone number. The office you pick does not change your treatment plan, only your drive.

Your first visit

What happens at your first oral surgery consultation?

A first consultation is an assessment, not a procedure. An oral surgeon examines you, reviews a 3D scan of your jaw taken that day, and explains which treatments the bone underneath will support. Nothing is drilled, extracted or placed at that appointment, and you leave with a plan rather than a bill.

Between them, the exam and the scan settle six practical questions.

  • Whether the bone under a gap will hold an implant, or needs grafting first
  • How many implants a full arch would need, and where they would sit
  • Whether a failing tooth needs removing, and what would replace it
  • Which anesthesia or sedation route suits your medical history
  • What order the stages run in, and what has to heal between them
  • Which payment route fits, before any date goes in the diary
Results vary from patient to patient. Not every jaw has the bone volume for a fixed full arch, and same-day teeth are available for qualifying cases, not all of them.

What if another dentist referred me for oral surgery?

A referral is welcome but never required. Patients who book themselves and patients sent by another dentist go through the same free consultation at the same three Georgia offices. A referring dentist can forward records ahead of the visit so imaging already taken does not have to be repeated.

Dentists and physicians who want to send a case can read how referring doctors send a patient to ANEWU, including what is useful to include with the referral and how progress notes come back to the practice.

Paperwork

Your new patient paperwork, and what to have with you.

Nothing needs printing at home. Here is what you are asked for, and when you are asked for it.

Medical and dental health history Conditions you are being treated for, past surgeries, allergies, and anything you take regularly. It is filled in with the front desk team rather than handed over on a clipboard and forgotten about.
Consent for your exam and imaging Permission to examine you and to take the 3D scan your treatment plan is built from. What it covers is explained before you sign it, not after.
Insurance and payment details Your carrier and member details if you have coverage, so benefits can be checked and explained before treatment is scheduled rather than after it.

Calling ahead means most of it can be ready before you walk in, which is worth doing if you would rather not fill anything in at the office. Arriving without your insurance details does not stop the appointment going ahead.

Cost and financing

What are the payment options for oral surgery?

Treatment at ANEWU can be paid with CareCredit or Proceed Finance, both of which arrange a monthly plan before the procedure, or with Visa, MasterCard and Discover. Which plan and which term you qualify for is decided by the lender rather than by the practice.

Dental implants and cosmetic treatment are typically not covered by dental insurance. Whatever coverage you do have is checked and explained before anything is scheduled, so the out of pocket figure is agreed up front rather than discovered afterwards.

Both lenders, what each one covers, and how the payment conversation usually goes in the office are set out on the implant financing and payment options page.

Caring for a surgical site

If something does not feel right, call (470) 288-9655. The team would rather hear from you early than find out at your follow-up appointment.
Who you will see

Who will I see as a new patient at ANEWU?

Your consultation is with the surgical team at the office you booked. Oral surgery and full arch implant cases are planned and performed by Dr. Abtin Shahriari, an oral surgeon specializing in implant dentistry. Facial aesthetics is led by Dr. Arshia Payman, MD.

Consultations are unhurried on purpose. Most of a first appointment is spent listening before anything is recommended, which is the part patients tend to mention afterwards. Dr. Abtin Shahriari sees implant and oral surgery patients at all three Georgia offices.

Full arch cases stay in the building. The bridge is made and adjusted in our on site lab by the same team that placed the implants, instead of being shipped to an outside lab and back again.

Quick answers

A few things patients ask first.

Every consultation at ANEWU covers an exam, time with an oral surgeon, and, for implant and surgical cases, a 3D cone beam scan of your jaw. The visit costs nothing, you leave with a plan and a clear idea of the cost routes, and there is no obligation to book treatment that day.

Not a reliable one. Cost depends on how many implants a jaw needs, whether grafting has to come first, and which restoration sits on top, and all three of those are settled by the 3D scan taken at your free consultation rather than guessed at over the phone.

Bring a photo ID, a current medication list, and your medical or dental insurance card if you have one. If another dentist referred you, bring the referral slip and any recent x-rays. Everything else, including the new patient forms, is completed with the ANEWU front desk when you arrive.

Aftercare instructions for every ANEWU procedure are on the post-op instructions page, grouped by the kind of appointment you had. A printed copy also goes home with you, so if you have mislaid yours, the same wording is available online at any hour.

Your first step starts with a conversation.
